Paradox Interactive announced that a new expansion is coming to Age of Wonders 4 this August 12. The Archon Prophecy introduces the new Architects culture and allows players to construct vast and magical monuments within their cities. It's priced at $24.99 and to be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the PC.
As mentioned, the upcoming expansion for Age of Wonders 4 introduces a new culture to the game. Players can now build their empire with the help of the Architects. This allows them to build monuments within their cities and then dedicate them to the affinity of their choice and this empower their economy and unlock powerful bonuses.
New Forms
Two new forms are added with the first one being the Elysian. These ascended and heavenly beings bring a touch of the divine to the realm. The second are the Ancient, withered and bent beings from the depths of history and more sinister places.
New Narrative
Players can forge their destiny with Prophecy Traits. These new society traits help players shape their empire. Early in the journey a vision appears and challenges players to define their ruler’s purpose and ambitions. How players interpret it is up to them. The good news is that fulfilling the Prophecy unlocks powerful rewards.
New Story Realms
New story Realms has also opened up. The Rings of Emnora has players enter the hidden realm of Emnora, which is a stronghold of the Archons. Here they get to look for aid in the eternal war against Urrath.
Meanwhile for Cliffs of Sordünn, players land on the Coast of Sordünn and explore an ancient land that fell into the endless horrors of the Umbral Abyss. They'll have to reclaim the realm from Urrath's clutches and fulfill a Prophecy that shapes the war between light and darkness.
New Tomes
For the new expansion, there are also new Tomes which are:
- Tome of Virtue: Empower armies with unwavering righteousness and bolster their fighting strength until the bitter end.
- Tome of Prophecies: Weave fate into every moment with prophetic spells and omens that shape the battlefield.
- Tome of the Revenant: Channel the power of the dead, and take vengeance against the living.
- Tome of the Archon: Summon celestial allies and ascend your units to the ranks of Archons.
Age of Wonders 4 is available for the PC via Steam. It's also out on consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
